For guests wanting to travel a little further afield, there are excellent links along the A66 and the A1M. The cathedral city of Durham can be reached within one hour’s drive north, as well as the historic city of York in the opposite direction. The beautiful fells of the Lake District are just over an hour’s drive west and to the east, guests will find the fabulous beaches and coastline of Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
Barnard Castle and Richmond are the closest towns and the nearest pub serving good food and real ale is at Greta Bridge, 1 mile away. There is a fine dining restaurant and tearoom in Barningham village and two farm shops with eateries within a 2-mile radius. Most major supermarkets also deliver orders.
