Cloughton is located on the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park, less than five miles north of Scarborough. Cinder Track, a 23-mile-long old railroad track, is just a few miles away, and it's popular with walkers, cyclists and horseback riders. Nearby is a long-distance trail known as the Cleveland Way, which runs along the clifftops of the Cleveland Peninsula to places like Hayburn Wyke, a picturesque cove with a waterfall and an inn, and Robin Hood's Bay. Many of Scarborough's exquisite houses, parks, and gardens, as well as the mediaeval castle that looms over it, have remained unchanged since Victorian times. In both North Bay and South Bay, you'll find lovely golden sand beaches that are ideal for families with young children.
