5 Bedroom House in Stow-on-the-Wold

Swingletrees is a detached house resting in Stow-on-the-Wold sleeping nine people in five bedrooms.

This luxurious and elegant home, Swingletrees, is located on a quiet street just moments from the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. Be amazed as you arrive at the property and marvel at the wrap-around garden and stunning detached property. Sleeping up to nine guests, Swingletrees is a splendid choice for you and your family or friends to enjoy a relaxing break.

Upon arriving at the property, park your car on the gravel driveway which provides space for up to four cars and unload your luggage ready to enter into your home for the next few days. The open and practical entrance hallway is a handy place for you to store your coats and boots before entering further.

The open-plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area has an impressive dual aspect quality and is a light and inviting space; perfect for entertaining and socialising. The solid oak flooring, stonework surfaces, inset woodburning stove and plantation shutters give you a warm and homely feeling, paired with contemporary appliances for your every need. Adjacent to the kitchen you will find the useful utility.

The separate sitting room overlooking the back garden is flooded with natural light and boasts a comforting inset woodburning stove, perfect for cold winter nights to snuggle up on the sofa with your loved ones.

The advantage of having a cloakroom located on the ground floor is perfect as there will be no more queues for the loo! Pleasantly finishing off the ground floor is the fifth bedroom which overlooks the back garden and has a welcoming king-size double bed. Accompanying this room is an en-suite bathroom.

Swingletrees benefits from a stunning wrap-around garden, perfect for you and your family to enjoy some quality time. The manicured lawns, pretty flowers beds and lovely liquidambar trees line the boundary to the rear of the garden and have beautiful colours in the Autumn months. For added privacy, retreat to the secluded patio area which houses two Rattan bucket chairs and bistro table or come together with your party and sit at the second patio area which lies adjacent to the lawn, and enjoy your dinner - or barbecue - al fresco style.

When sleep is calling, head back into the property where you will find floor level lighting guiding you up the staircase from the dining area and onto the first floor which offers four sizeable and stylish bedrooms to choose from. The master has an inviting king-size double bed and beautiful high ceilings, the spacious room is paired with a contemporary en-suite shower room and has warming underfloor heating. The second bedroom is a twin room (which can be changed to a super-king-size double on request). The third bedroom is tucked away in the corner of the house and has exposed beams and Velux windows and a sweet raised nook which houses one of the twin beds with the other bed just below. Finally, bedroom four is a lovely single room overlooking the back garden. The tastefully decorated bathroom boasts underfloor heating and an invigorating rain shower, perfect for a wash down after your day in Stow.

Once you’ve had a relaxing sleep, awake in the morning and look forward to your day in Stow-on-the-Wold; take a walk around the market square, where you will find the town stock at one end which dates back to the 15th Century and is shaded by an old Elm Tree and at the opposite end, you will find the ancient Market Cross, originally erected as a symbolic reminder to traders of the times to deal honestly and fairly. The market square is the heart of the community and offers boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Farmers’ Market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce. Stay local and visit the Fosse Gallery to admire an array of contemporary British art, indulge in a bite to eat and drinks at The Stag at Stow, or revel in the scrumptious tea and cakes and cream tea at The Old Bakery Tea Room.

Town: The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens.
