The charming seaside village of Borth is perfect for families and couples alike because of its beautiful 3-mile Blue Flag beach of golden sand, which stretches northwards to the magnificent sand dunes at Ynyslas. The beach is ideal for young families because of its particularly shallow gradient – bathing, surfing, kiting, or even crabbing in the rockpools by the cliff are all great ways to spend your time.
You can walk for miles along the coast and inland, enjoying the scenery and the wildlife, with an ice cream or portion of local fish and chips as a reward. The Welsh Coastal Path passes through the village, featuring a spectacular coastal walk to nearby Aberystwyth (you can get the train back!).
At certain times of the year, low tide reveals the stumps of an ancient forest that flourished over 1500 years ago.
There are plenty of amenities within easy walking distance in the friendly village of Borth, including several shops, eateries and pubs. The larger resort of Aberystwyth is a 10 minute drive down the coast, with its vibrant Arts Centre featuring a year-round programme of cinema, performing and visual arts. Borth railway station is a 5 minute walk from the cottage which has a regular direct service to Aberystwyth.
Golfers will love the challenge of Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club which is only 500m from the cottage.
