Matlock outdoor market is held on each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. A farmer’s market is also held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Many events and festivals are held in the town throughout the year, including a Victorian Christmas weekend on the first week of December.
Just 1.6miles downriver of the main town lies the picturesque spa town of Matlock Bath, which contains the main tourist attractions of the locality including the Heights of Abraham with cable car and breath-taking views of the Derwent valley and surrounding dales.
