Located opposite Eastney Beach, on the east side of the seafront at Portmouth, this shingle beach is a designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation due valuable habitat containing some nationally rare species. It adjoins Southsea Beach giving miles of beach land, a wonderful promenade and a great place for swimming, water activities and beach front dining. The Victorian seafront of Southsea is a short walk from Driftwood with a pier, funfair and leisure complex, large open green spaces perfect for picnics plus Canoe Lake, splash and play parks and even a spot of kite flying. Southsea Castle is well worth a look, and the tropical marine life at the Blue Reef Aquarium is a great day out come rain or shine.
During the summer months you can enjoy a whole host of family friendly events on the common such as the Victorious music festival, the annual International Kite Festival, Portsmouth Pride and regular music events at Southsea Bandstand.
