The sand is darker and slightly coarse, typical of this stretch of the Costa del Sol, and in some areas the shoreline can be slightly stony when entering the water, so aqua shoes can be useful. The seafront promenade runs for several kilometres and connects directly to Puerto Banús to the east. It is lined with beach restaurants (chiringuitos), cafés, cycle lanes and playgrounds. Castiglione is one of the original beachside developments in Nueva Alcantara, well-established and generally quiet. The low-rise, whitewashed buildings are designed in a traditional Andalusian style and set within mature tropical gardens. The buildings are low-rise and there are no lifts.
